Practice Manager/Inventory Manager

Jenna joined the Sequoia Veterinary Hospital team back in August of 2007. She was born and raised here in the Bay Area, and volunteered at the Silicon Valley Humane Society for one year before she joined our receptionist staff at Sequoia. She eventually took over the pharmacy assistant position, in addition to maintaining and overseeing the inventory of the hospital, and now is Practice Manager (along with Allison - below). She has one loveable Welsh Pembroke Corgi named Payton Monkey, one aquatic turtle named Jill, and one fish named Tuna. When Jenna is not working at Sequoia or petsitting, she loves spending time with family, attending concerts, camping, drawing, and going on road trips.

Practice Manager/HR Manager

A Bay Area native, Allison has lived around animals her whole life. After earning her Bachelor's in Social-Psycho Linguistics at Occidental College, she pursued a specialized, hands-on degree in Exotic Animal Training and Management at Moorpark College. From 1996 to 2010, she cared for, raised and trained exotic and domestic animals of all varieties including sea lions, elephants, monkeys, sloths, lions, tigers, leopards, bears, kangaroos, koalas, zebras, gazelles and birds – to name a few! Allison first joined Sequoia Veterinary Hospital in early 2005, and held a variety of responsibilities over the next three and a half years. She returned to working with exotic animals at San Francisco and Sacramento Zoos in mid-2008, and returned to Sequoia part-time in early 2012; first as a Receptionist, then as Front Office Manager, and now is Practice Manager (with Jenna) & HR. Outside of life at Sequoia, Allison puts her Social-Psycho Linguistics background to use as a life and communication coach. She combines her coaching expertise with her love of animals and her passion for travel & other cultures (which began when she lived in Belgium as a child) by leading safari adventures in Africa. She also enjoys dancing, playing volleyball, and spending time exploring the Bay Area with her dog, Ginger.

Senior Technician, Registered Veterinary Technician

Karen joined the Sequoia Veterinary Hospital team in August of 1980 (yes, that's not a typo). Karen graduated from the Foothill College Animal Health Technology program in June of 1980. She has provided us all with support through her skills and friendship and is a treasured part of this practice. She has seen many of our clients through multiple generations of treasured pets and continues to offer her best efforts every day to care for every individual dog and cat who comes through our door. Over these years, Karen's interests outside the veterinary hospital have also grown. She has worked as a dog trainer with specialties in obedience, Schutzhund, and AKC tracking. She practices karate and received her black belt in 2000. In recent years, Karen has become an avid scuba diver. She is a member of the Silicon Valley Scuba Diving Club and received her first dive master certification in 2003. Recently she attained the multi-level master diver certification which is very difficult. Due to her scuba diving interest and skill level, she has been able to travel the world and see parts of the ocean many of us only dream about. Karen has taken diving trips to Honduras, Belize, Bonaire Island, Channel Islands, the Philippines, and Palau, Micronesia. Just like the rest of us, Karen's life would not be complete without her menagerie of pets. Her home is shared with Cameo the cat, sweet pit bull Roxie, a three-toed box turtle named Chester, and her Amazon parrot named Bea. She also enjoys gardening, baking, and making jams & jellies when she has time at home. She has won multiple ribbons at the San Mateo County Fair home preserves competition.

Veterinary Assistant

Have you seen Crystal before? If you have visited a veterinary clinic on the peninsula in the last 20 years, you might have. Crystal joined our team here at Sequoia in 2008. She came to us as a highly skilled veterinary assistant with 17 years of experience. We are happy to have her here full time and you should be too. Crystal grew up locally and graduated from Woodside High School in 1990. At 19 years of age, she started working in veterinary medicine and loved it. Besides her daytime job, on some nights and most weekends, you will also see her at the South Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Palo Alto. She has been moonlighting there for ten years. It is kind of neat to have our patients get the same great nursing care and a familiar face during the day and into those late evening hours. Outside work, Crystal spends her time at the gym, bike riding, playing bunka and poker. She makes at least yearly visits to Disneyland. She also has traveled to New Orleans and to Mexico in recent vacations. No matter where she is she has lots of fun, just like her young Bull Mastiff, Chai. Chai is super sweet, smart and sassy, and enjoys keeping her momma on her toes.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Sara hasn't always lived on the West Coast... She actually spent the first 25 years of her life in West Lafayette, Indiana where she received her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology from Purdue University in 2014. Shortly after receiving her undergraduate degree, her husband (then boyfriend) got accepted into the Stanford Chemistry PhD program. So, they packed up and drove across the country to California with their only cat at the time, Miles. They have been loving the beautiful West Coast sun rays ever since! Sara has been working with animals since 2007. In her free time she enjoys hiking, camping, going to the beach, going to concerts, exercising, taking spontaneous road trips, and spending time with her family: her husband and two cats, Miles & Skylar. Sara loves all animals but has a particular love for cats! 🐱

Registered Veterinary Technician

Kat is a Bay Area native, born and raised here on the peninsula. After graduating from high school in San Francisco, she attended San Francisco State University for two years, majoring in Cinematography. Little did she know at the time, a career in veterinary medicine was just around the corner! Kat's first position in the field was as a Kennel Attendant at a doggy daycare in South San Francisco. She loved caring for the animals there so much that she decided to go back to school to study Veterinary Technology. Kat graduated in February 2018, and after bouncing around at a couple of veterinary hospitals over the last three years, she finally landed here at Sequoia in December of 2017. She currently shares her home with her boyfriend and two guinea pigs, Ser Pounce and Stark. When she's not at work, Kat can be found cooking, trying out new restaurants, spending time with her family, and traveling - whether it's just a quick trip to Disneyland, or somewhere international!

Veterinary Assistant

Ryan actually grew up in Southern California before coming to the Bay Area. After high school he attended Cal Poly Pomona, where he received his BS in Animal Science, and interned at Inland Valley Humane Society. Eventually he and his wife decided to move to the Bay Area, where he started his career in animal medicine. He worked at a veterinary hospital in Daly City for four years before they moved to the east coast for a few years. There he stayed in the veterinary field, but had the opportunity to work closely with many farm animals in New Hampshire and especially Vermont! Ryan can be found spending his spare time with his wife (and high school sweetheart) Yvonne, who is a Professor of Asian American Studies & Sociology at San Jose State, as well as his pets: Ying Ying the black cat (but with doglike tendencies), and their dog Penny, an American Composite Breed (not really, she is part Shepherd, Pit Bull, anyone's guess). She is a quirky girl and scared of her own shadow, as well as lights, noises, bikes, children, trucks, and the microwave... But they love her quirks and all! Ryan also enjoys cycling, working on the car, and enjoyed long walks with their now passed pup, Yana.
